4 Podiums Earned at Escape from Alcatraz

3 May 2010 No Comment

efa10While the majority of the team competed down at Wildflower, a small contingent of PacWest elite and club team members stayed local and competed in the 30th Anniversary of the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon on Sunday, May 2nd. We had 14 members brave the frigid waters and strong currents of the San Francisco Bay before tackling the challenging hills, trails and sand of the bike and run courses.

PacWest athletes earned 4 Top-3 finishes and 7 in the Top-10. Congratulations to Ashley Wood for defending her F35-39 title from last year. Ritch Viola was the sixth amateur finisher overall and took 2nd in the M35-39. Team Co-Captain, Jason Campbell, added a 2nd place to his 3rd place finish last year. Up and coming club team member, Chrissy Hirsch-Towle, impressed the team with her 2nd place finish in the F25-29. Close behind her was her twin sister Cindy Towle who finished 4th in the F25-29. Congratulations to the entire team on a truly impressive performance on our home turf! Go PacWest!
