Congratulations to PacWest members Nicky Barber and Anne Thilges for their amazing performances at the Inaugural Ironman Texas on Saturday! Held at The Woodlands near Houston, Texas, they were subjected to intense heat (90+ degrees) and humidity throughout the day.

PacWest member Nicky ran a strong, steady race and took 3rd in her age group (F35-39). Her performance earned her her first Ironman World Championship spot. Congratulations Nicky! You’re going to Kona!!

Meanwhile, PacWest race team member Anne Thilges (F45-49) entered the race having just come off a stress fracture to her foot just four weeks ago. Having been in a “boot” for the past month, Anne was not able to do much running as well as biking. So needless to say her training going into the race was less than ideal. All that said, Anne was able to race her way up to 4th place in her age group coming off the bike. Knowing her position she decided to go for it and see what she could do. Though she said her run ‘wasn’t pretty’ she was able to hold her position and finish in 4th place JUST missing a Kona spot by only one minute!

PacWest young pro, Jordan Bethke, was down in his home town and competed in the Orange County Triathlon on Sunday. Jordan was the second overall finisher and first in his division. Congrats Jordan!
